BACK About the Course: The focus in AP5 is the creation of an original Trigger Happy inspired improv show by the ensemble. Exercises are tailored to help the improviser discover and strengthen their individual comedic improv voice and also on the “hows” of bringing this voice into an ensemble. The class also will delve into the improv rehearsal process and work with the concepts of ensemble building, collaboration, show pacing, and good rehearsal habits. Prerequisite: Students must have completed AP4 to enroll in this class. Each AP5 class will feature a four-week run of shows alongside the last four regular classes of the term. BACK About the Course: Musical Improv III is an introduction to improvising the 50-minute improvised musical improv show. Stamina and skill are required to tackle a longer show–dozens of new advanced challenges await! Solo songs, B-stories, extended dance numbers, and breaking cliches are just a few topics we’ll cover in this course. We’ll examine existing hour-long musical forms as well as try to invent some of our own using the Annoyance Improv philosophy. This class will culminate in a four-show run at the end of the class. Prerequisite: Must have completed Musical Improv II class at Annoyance Theater. Each MI3 class will feature a four-week run of shows alongside the last four regular classes of the term.     AP6: Part 2-Scripted Narrative Price $320 Duration 10 Weeks (1 day/week, 3hrs) Enroll NOTE: Registration is Non-Refundable Please be sure to r ead through our policies prior to registering. BACK About the Course: AP6 is a two-part class, using improv to create written material. In Part 2 (AP6/2), students will take the skills they learned in Part 1, (how to turn their improv into written sketches), and further develop their work with the creation of a narrative play. As in AP6 part 1, students will be assigned roles and be responsible for costumes, props, etc. Additional work outside of class will be required. For over 30 years the Annoyance has specialized in using improv comedy to create full length plays and musicals. From Annoyance classics like Splatter Theater and Coed Prison Sluts , to more modern shows like Steamworks: The Musical and It's Christmas, Goddamnit! The Annoyance has enjoyed pushing the envelope of what plays and musicals can be. With this class, students will continue their journey of turning their improv into written works, now adding the complexity of a narrative play through it all. Using Annoyance style improvisation to build a narrative show Theatre Roles Technical aspects of the theatre Students must have completed AP6 Part 1 to take this class. BACK About the Course: AP3: Scene Work is about taking that next step in scenes. While AP2 focused on the beginning moments of a scene, in AP3 students are challenged to play with more complexity and style, juggling it all within a scene while always maintaining their strong point of view. Aspects of this class include: Acknowledging the realities of your scene partner Scenic development: Finding the Highways and Bi-ways of a scene to extend its length Managing context without getting in your head (the who/what/where/when/why/etc.) Creating specific, surprising choices Playing with Opposites and Curve Balls Creating and playing with multiple patterns or games in a scene In-depth three person and group scene work Protecting and Playing the Freak Learning how to repair a scene that isn’t working Managing forms and style DaDa scenes (playing fiercely without needing to “make sense”) Justification: how to use it not out of fear but as a tool.
