About the Course:

Interactive & Fringe Theatre

1/week, 2.5hrs/week, 8 weeks

About the Course:

Utilizing clown, physical theater, and improvisation techniques, this class explores building rapport with audiences, inviting people into the world of your performance, and taking care of volunteers. In this course, you will unlock your own innate sense of play and discover how to effectively share that play with any audience. By learning how to be comfortable on stage without the fourth wall, students will leave with alternative approaches to developing material as well as an original interactive performance piece.

Instructor Bio:

Danny Wightkin is an award-winning clown and theatrical artist who tours multiple solo shows across the country. With over a decade of performance experience, Danny has appeared across Chicago’s many stages and delighted audiences of all sizes with interactive performances. Last year he starred in the Chicago Reader recommended show Clown Brunch and opened his show How to Make Friends & Alienate Them. He studied theatre in France with clown master Philippe Gaulier, and currently spends time in Maine with Avner the Eccentric developing his latest show. Beyond the stage, he enjoys appearing as the creature in films and was the titular monster in the multi-award winning horror short The Spaghetti Man.
