AP6: Part 1-Sketch Review Price $320 Duration 8 Weeks (1 day/week, 3hrs) Enroll NOTE: Registration is Non-Refundable Please be sure to r ead through our policies prior to registering. BACK About the Course: AP6 is a two-part class, using improv to create written material. In part one (AP6/1), students will take all of the improv skills they've honed in AP1-5 and together with their director, create a written sketch revue. Students will be assigned additional roles outside of actor/writer and may be responsible for costumes, props, etc. These classes are more intensive than AP1-5 and will require additional work and rehearsal outside of class hours. For over 30 years the Annoyance has specialized in using improv comedy to create full length plays and musicals. From Annoyance classics like Splatter Theater and Coed Prison Sluts , to more modern shows like Steamworks: The Musical and It's Christmas, Goddamnit! The Annoyance has enjoyed pushing the envelope of what plays and musicals can be. With this class, students will start the journey of turning their improv into written works, refining, planning, and creating a full sketch revue. BACK About the Course: Musical Improv I is an introduction to improvising songs, and the art of 'scene into song'. You'll learn how to sing structured songs, create catchy choruses that audiences remember, how to dance the same improvised dance move with seven other people, and how to express honest emotion while getting big laughs. This class will culminate in a one-night-only Musical Improv class show. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A GOOD SINGER TO BE A GREAT MUSICAL IMPROVISER! All you need is a supportive teacher to help you through the first few anxiety-ridden moments. I was never in choir growing up, and didn't think of myself as a 'singer'--I heard the vibrato of Broadway voices and thought 'I'm DEFINITELY not a singer. 'But it turns out I'm a GREAT singer--I just needed to improvise a few hundred songs to get VERY comfortable with my own voice. So whether you're interested in musical improv, or just want to feel more confident with your own voice, this class is for you. BACK About the Course: Musical Improv III is an introduction to improvising the 50-minute improvised musical improv show. Stamina and skill are required to tackle a longer show–dozens of new advanced challenges await! Solo songs, B-stories, extended dance numbers, and breaking cliches are just a few topics we’ll cover in this course. We’ll examine existing hour-long musical forms as well as try to invent some of our own using the Annoyance Improv philosophy. This class will culminate in a four-show run at the end of the class. Prerequisite: Must have completed Musical Improv II class at Annoyance Theater. Each MI3 class will feature a four-week run of shows alongside the last four regular classes of the term. MI3 shows are typically on Sunday evenings. This class will culminate in an optional student showcase at The Annoyance on the final Sunday fo the term. Annoyance Summer Intensives Price $600 Duration 5 Days M-F Enroll NOTE: Registration is Non-Refundable Please be sure to r ead through our policies prior to registering. BACK About the Course: The Annoyance Training Center teaches students how to develop and maintain a strong individual voice in their improvisation. These intensives will address the initiation of a scene; developing and maintaining strong characters; learning to hold on to your initial choices while at the same time, expanding on (heightening) the choices you have made; and learning to become deft at creating and weaving unexpected, character-based choices into your work. The Annoyance Training Center's Summer Intensives are a two part course. Our ongoing improv classes meet for 20 hours over eight weeks. Summer Intensive 1 attempts to condense that information down to just six hours over one day. Summer intensive 2 will attempt to provide more of the information that was not able to be touched on while also covering some more advanced techniques and practices. Intensives will run daily from 10am-5pm with a 1 hour break for lunch. Each intensive (part 1 and part 2) also offer exclusive workshops 5-7pm each evening at no extra cost! There will be a showcase for each Summer Intensive class 6-7pm Friday night. Need a payment plan? Simply choose Payment Plan when signing up and you will be charged half the cost of the class now.
